Scrappers in cultural formal wear!

I had way too much fun with this, trying to match their personalities while also going into uncharted territory as far as world building. I know I need to do this with every culture eventually, thanks for everyone’s patience as I do it all slowly.... ;;;////w////;;;
Some notes because I actually had a lot of fun thinking these up:

  • Naelia: the Naiads are very big on education, so the half cape was meant to be a very fancy ode to graduation stoles. I wanted to accentuate their minimalist aesthetic, as well as their love of pastel colors, gradients, and futurist sculpture in the neck piece. The scales were to give it an aquatic and aggressive touch, to really bring out the Naiad’s watery themes and Nay’s awful attitude
  • Elliel: as a warrior race, Jotun formal wear comprises of intimidating (and impractical) jewelry, complete with a decorative sword. Although they usually prefer wrought iron on their armor, formal occassions call for bronzes. For Ellie specifically, I tried for a visual marriage between Russian military and traditional Kazakh clothing, to accurately reflect her heritage inspirations
  • Yerzhi: Yerzhi’s usual work clothes are not very indicative of his culture, so his outfit was very fun to design. Dryads have a very obvious affinity for flowers, which are carried with them to all formal events. Real-world inspirations for their culture have been evolving lately to mix Tang Dynasty-era Chinese and Korean traditional wear, resulting in something loose fitting and vividly decorated, maybe even a little gaudy. Which is very, very fun
  • Aedre: as a contrast to the Jotun, the Myr are a militaristic country but much more uniform and utilitarian. Their formal occasions call for dress uniforms as well, but lack the impracticalities of Jotun showiness. Since Aedre herself never served in the army, her formal clothes wouldn’t be as decorated with badges or honors. She’s in something akin to a cadet’s outfit
